Insurance - Petwise and Purely Pets?

Looking at these two insurers for my dogs - Petwise for 9 year old and Purely Pets for 5 year old. I do need to read through everything really carefully, but the premiums quoted seem almost too good for the cover!

eg. £8000 lifetime cover for 9 year old Irish Terrier, inc. dental, £249 excess = £28.52 per month

Does anyone have experience of either/both insurer(s), whether good or bad?

Wow that's a whooping excess Another.

It is … have just checked, and they do offer £149 and £199 excesses, which increases the monthly premium by approx £5 and £10. One of the main pluses though is that they don’t apply a co-payment, which always seems to be about 20% of the claim cost for older dogs (from what I’ve looked at so far anyway)?

I checked with the lady who works in insurance where I work and she said purely pets are very very slow to pay out. She hates dealing with them.

Have you tried Agria? Same company as the kennel club but much cheaper.

We're with Agria and have recently made a claim. They've been really helpful throughout even when I've called them with rather panicky questions. All communication has been good and they've paid out.

Thank you @Bigblackandreddog and @PritiPatelsMaker - have just tried to get a quote online, but they can’t generate one. Will definitely call them later though.

I'd suggest asking your vets if they do direct claims with those companies - often an indicator of how reliable & fast they are at paying out.
That's a good price to include dental - definitely check the small print though!
