Does a standalone tick treatment exist?

Hi everyone,

We recently started using a "health plan" provided by our vet - basically a monthly subscription for flea treatment, worming tablets, free annual checkup, etc. Works out much cheaper for us, as we have three pets.

However, we realised that the flea spot-on they provide (Advocate) doesn't deal with ticks. Previously we used a spot-on treatment that sorted both fleas + ticks together.

We asked the vet and they gave us a flea + tick collar. I'm a little wary of using it, since he's already been treated with a spot-on? Also I'm not sure if they're as effective?

Does anyone know of a spot-on treatment purely for ticks?

Alternatively, we're thinking of just switching him to a flea + tick treatment for the summer months. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best ones? And are ticks still a problem after summer?

Thank you!

Nexguard spectra will cover everything except tape worm, no need for spot on with it at all. It is an oral tablet taken once a month. Bravecto Spectra will do the same but a 3 monthy tablet if on a plan frm the vets probably the cheapest way to do it.

Seresto collar will treat just ticks and can be worn with spot on treatment eg advocate.

Advantix is a spot on that also treats ticks and can be used at a different time to other spot ons - assuming you are using advocate?

Ticks used to be around just in the summer but they are pretty common all year round now (just worse in the summer)

Symparico covers everything except tapeworm. My dog has one Symparico tablet a month, then Droncet tablets for tapeworm every three months. My other dog has Milpro wormer every other month plus a Seresto flea/tick collar from March to October.

My dog has advocate and sorresto collar. I live rural lots of sheep and cows not to mentioned wild deer foxes etc. No ticks at all. There is ticks as years ago I used frontline and would have to remove at least 4 after every walk.

Be careful with Bravecto, our vets stopped using it due to serious side effects
