Greyhound /lurcher cave bed

Has anyone got any recommendations?
Our lurcher sleeps on a mat in our room with a blanket over her that if it come off she clicks round the room and whines for us to cover her up again.
She is staying with my 86 year old mil when we go on holiday and I was thinking about getting a cave/snuggle type bed for us at home and also to use when she goes there.
It would be great to have a personal recommendation from someone with a large soft wimpy lurcher!
Or what to steer clear of.
Thank you

Can't you just put a fleecy bed jacket on her ?

Or maybe something like this ? These bed were clearly invented for wimpy hounds!

Yes we have done that previously but it seems to give her itchy dandruff and she is black so it shows too!
Maybe it's the weighted blanket effect!

That IS the type of thing I am considering but was hoping for personal recommendations. Or feedback on if the dog loved it, used it, if it was sturdy or a bit flimsy etc

My DD’s Italian greyhound x has one and loves it, sleeps in it each night, and frequently during the day. Although not modelling it this morning for the photo shoot. It wasn’t cheap, but think Dd bought it off eBay.

Oh yes, dandruff on black hounds isn't a good look!

userxx · 26/05/2022 09:03

@Molecule Not a bad life is it!

HiK9 snuggle tunnels

Johnnysgirl · 26/05/2022 10:36

Do they get in there by themselves?

fecklessfanny · 26/05/2022 10:36

So I've used this company for a few years now and am very happy with them-I replace it annually as they loose their padding and get a bit wafty

Oof, they look lovely, but I would expect something I'd paid £150+ for to last more than a year.

rbe78 · 26/05/2022 11:41

@fecklessfanny Do your dogs snuggle under it of their own accord or do you have to lift it up for them? If they do it by themselves, did you have to train them or did they work it out for themselves?

Hugasauras · 26/05/2022 11:42

www.tuffies.co.uk/

They have a tunnel cover. Amazing beds. Ours must be at least six years old now and still looks brand new after washing the cover. They aren't cheap but we were getting through a new bed every six months/a year till we got our Tuffies one so it's definitely worked out good value in the long term.

Molecule · 26/05/2022 13:16

My dd’s is from here, but bought off eBay www.charleychau.com/collections/luxury-snuggle-beds
Definitely over a year old and washes well. Dog knew exactly what to do, straight under the cover.

Rollerbird · 26/05/2022 14:24

@Molecule how big is the dog and how big is the bed you got?
Unsure if a large one is big enough for a greyhound size

Sorry @Molecule .can see the dog size!! What size bed did you get? Medium or large?

We had one of these - it was amazing!

fecklessfanny · 26/05/2022 14:51

@rbe78
She gets under it no problem, I take the ridged tube out so that it's a floppy top as that seems snugglier

Yes they are expensive but for a warm cosy comfy - full uninterrupted nights Kip-it's worth it

fecklessfanny · 26/05/2022 15:33

Should also say that the snoozer ones have (if you opt for ortho insert) a proper slab of sofa seat foam with the cedar insert on top-without that foam slab the bed cushion/cedar fill cushion goes flat and lumpy very quickly

Molecule · 26/05/2022 15:54

@rollerbird, it's about 75cm long and 55 wide. She's very petite, perhaps 10kg. Bigger than an Italian gh but not whippet sized and definitely not near a greyhound. I'd contact the company and see what they say.

Molecule · 26/05/2022 15:55

And the cushion insert has remained nice and fluffy.

Molecule · 26/05/2022 15:58

Here's her fat whippet on it (he never goes in) to give an idea of size.

Lovely dogs! It's not huge, though. My boys like to spread themselves out.

Molecule · 26/05/2022 21:16

I don’t think they’re big enough for greyhounds judging by this bit of their website: www.charleychau.com/products/snuggle-beds-for-dogs. Sorry not to be of more help. Perhaps need to make your own - Wilma (little scruffy one) really does love it!

Have you got a round one or a rectangular and what type of dog do you have? @fecklessfanny ?
