Any foods that help with excessive moulting?

I've got little rescues. They aren't exceptionally hairy, but the floof gets everywhere! Just found a hair in my cup of tea Confused I groom them regularly and they eat good quality food, but was just wondering if anyone knows of anything that will help reduce the excessive shedding. I know it's spring and moulting season, but they are pretty much like it all year round.

I don't think it helps that I'm a bit obsessive with cleaning - I seem to spend half the day sweeping the floors and lint rollering the cushions Grin

Do I just need to lighten up a bit as it's not really the end of the world, or is there something I could add to their diet that would help?

What breed are they?

SheAndHerAreWomen · 03/05/2022 16:37

No idea! They are foreign rescues - very Heinz 57 Grin

Salmon oil is meant to good for skin/fur, but I'm not sure it would help with moulting. Daily brushing (outside) and regular grooming appointments should help, but some breeds just shed a lot!

Ok what kind of coats do they have? Are they short haired?

SheAndHerAreWomen · 03/05/2022 18:23

One is completely short haired, the other is a little bit fluffier but not much.

Robot vacuum. Not a replacement for doing it properly, but helps keep on top of it

What on the dogs? Grin

What on the dogs?

My daft Pooch would probably enjoy that but then she does have some quirks Grin

Ok, you need a fine coat king and a furminator then probably.

CornishPorsche · 04/05/2022 19:03

Are you brushing them daily? Lots of brushin (outdoors, away from my house!) and a robot hoover is all that saves our sanity with a husky cross blowing her coat and Romanian wotsit trying to dry the same....!

I've got a lab... and honestly the hair build up recently has been epic to say the least!!!
I don't have any answers I just would like to hear some tips

To answer your OP honestly, yes I think you DO need to lighten up a bit Grin
Some hair is inevitable . You already seem like you're grooming them and cleaning loads. I think you just need to reach a state of acceptance.

Haha maybe, they just seem to be hairier than usual at the moment and thought there might be a miracle solution. Robovac and a few tins of salmon it is then Grin

One year when my Lab was causing .more hair than usual, I was recommended nettle extract. Not sure if it reduced the fur but it was very shiny...
