Pizzles...

My one year old dog loves a pizzle (smallish size), it takes her about 20 mins to get through and it totally chills her out in the evening. Is it okay for her to have one every evening or nearly every evening? Tried other chews and natural bits and pieces but she doesn't seem as interested as she is in pizzles!

From what I have read pizzles are higher fat chews, so keep an eye on weight etc but ours has at least a couple of chews a day, probably 4 pizzles a week.

Beefy tails and buffalo ears are favourites in our house if you've not tried those, though I think beefy tails are up there with pizzles in terms of fat.

Have you tried lickimats? Also a good option!

Yeah lickimats could be good on alternate nights, hadn't thought of that...but she does love to chew!

Depends on her breed and size. Worth looking at jr pet products to mix it up a bit- lamb braids, lamb ears, beef skin, tendons etc will all give her a good chew and have different levels of nutrients etc

I wouldn't give them daily as they're quite fatty - ideally once a week or so.

Have you tried all the low fat chews available on sites like JRPetProducts? What about a frozen kong or stuffed cows hood instead?

Any ostrich chew is pretty healthy as well as things like beef or buffalo skin.

I'd like to try kongs more but never know what to stuff them with. She has a little bit of a sensitive stomach so things like doggy peanut butter are out

Does she eat normal wet food? You can stuff it with that, or mash her kibble up with warm water into a kind of paste, and then use that. JRPetProducts also do a doggy pate that's good for Kongs.

Other options we've tried are natural yoghurt, a bit of spreadable cheese, mashed up bananas, tuna and even cat food sometimes.

@fairylightsandwaxmelts thanks, her normal food is a good idea. Laughing at the cat food...she lives for the cats food 😆

Mine too @duvetdrama Grin - we put it in a cows hoof for him and freeze it and he goes absolutely nuts for it, haha.
