Millie's Wolfheart

Hi there. My dog has been on Barking Heads for 5 years but it is now a ridiculous price (£70 a 12kg bag.) 5 years ago it was £48.

I am thinking of changing her to Millie's Wolfheart as it's much cheaper but seems to be better quality. Just wondered what others think of it. How did you dog react to changing to it as it sounds rich?

Any tips would be gratefully received.
TIA

We have two dogs and they are both on Millie’s. We swapped the older one onto it from a different food, and found it was much better for his stomach. As it isn’t bulked out, you feed less and it seems to produce smaller poos. Our younger one has been on it ever since we got her, and she loves it. The vets always compliment us on the condition of our dogs, so I’d really recommend it.

My dog has been on Millies since she was 6 weeks old .
She is now 7.
She is a working cocker Cross but is often mistaken for a flat coated retriever dye to the shine on her coat.
She is also the largest of her siblings by a third.

I wanted to raw feed but my husband found that a bit gross so I spend an age on allaboutdogfood.com...I think that is the name...researching dog food.

I would never feed anything else now. She is full of energy. Her teeth are white. She doesn't have any tummy issues. AND I have found Millies to be a very approachable company. They are more than happy to advise on which variety is best for your dog.
Freyja is on the 70% protein stuff, like salmon, or countryside.

Just slowly transition the food over by mixing for about 5 days, gradually increasing the quantity of the new food.

Also check how much you should actually be feeding as it is less than you would think.

Our springer spaniel is annoyingly fussy. We have her on Aatu which is the only food she will consistently eat but it’s dreadfully expensive. I wanted to get her on Millie’s because it’s a similar quality but cheaper. It’s great because you can buy small trial bags to figure out what they like. Anyway, she ate the first couple of meals but after that turned her nose up at it so we went back to Aatu. I will try again though at some point and see if she can get used to it. My parent’s dog on the other hand will eat anything and she loves Millie’s! I’d say it’s definitely worth a try to see if your dog will eat it, it’s a great food and the company seem good as well, I think they have a nutritionist you can contact should you ever need to.

Our 3 Yr old lab has been on Millie Wolfheart for over 2 years and we’re very happy with it. We use the suggestions they give which food to buy and change regularly between the different kibble. He loves all of them and his poos are always easy to pick up! Also love all the snacks they have - buffalo ears/fishy bites etc - ddog loves them all.

Thanks so much guys, that's helpful. I have ordered the trial size 50% lamb as that's the closest to what she's on now. And, yes I am after kibble. I will call them today I think to see if the can advise me further. And my dog is NOT fussy.

So, feed less and better quality. Cheaper too. No brainier.

How much is your lab on? My lab is on wuffat at the mo which is £35 a bag which lasts 3.5 weeks so I'm spending about £50 a month. I'm thinking of moving to Millie's but it's more expensive so wasn't sure. Obviously depends on dog size my dogs a large lab about 40kg.

I had both of mine on Millie's for years but they changed recipes a couple of years ago and mine just stopped eating it. I'd also recommend not running out as they can be slow to deliver on occasion.

Mine are now on Forthglade cold pressed kibble and love it........ the cocker has got the shiniest glossy coat that even the vet commented on last week. It's incredibly dense so they only need small amounts of it too.

We have golden retrievers, our boy is 37kg and he gets 150g twice a day

We used to feed Millie's and were always very happy with it. The treats were well loved as well.

We changed to autarky about the time we had a baby and moved house as it was cheaper and easier to get with much faster delivery and I kept messing up when to order Millies!

Our 2.5 year old boxer has been having 3 tins of gamekeeper a day. Frankly she loves it. However she has flare ups of pancreatitis so we are getting an extra freezer so she can have Butternut Box.

I’ve just started my 4 month old whippet x foxhound on the riverside mix, so far so good

Ddog weighs 30kg, and has around 300 g a day of the riverside mix (or any of the others from the 60% range).
