Trying to find a suitable boarders for our Lab for 2 weeks in August.
I’m specifically looking for one where the dog lives in the home.
What questions should I be asking?

Thanks in advance 🙂

The best ones might be booked up already for two weeks in August! You need to visit. And find out where they sleep; how often they’re exercised; is it secure; how many other dogs do they take at any one time, etc. I also did several day visits where I left them for a few hours, as trial runs, before I did a trial overnighter. Also you get what you pay for; the more expensive ones are worth it. Good luck

Are they insured? Are they licensed?

Our dog trainer said many of those advertising 'in the home' are unlicensed and uninsured and the dog would be safer in a proper kennel.

Oh dear - I think you might struggle to find a licensed home boarder for August I'm afraid.

But in case you do find someone:

You need to see their license and insurance.
How many dogs are they allowed at once?
What are the sleeping arrangements?
Do they do a trial (they 100% should) and what happens if the dog fails?
Are the dogs left alone and for how long?
Do they use crates when transporting the dogs?
What is the transport set-up like?
How do they manage feeding with multiple dogs in the house?
Is their garden secure? Is the house secure?
Where do they walk? Do they allow dogs off the lead?
What will they do if your dog gets sick or gets in a fight with another dog?
What would they do if your didn't settle or became very anxious being away from home?

Thanks all.
My parents we’re going to have him but have decided it’s too much for them. I completely understand but am now panicking!
