My Lab puppy is now nearly 6 months old.

She's amazing, a really sweet good girl, training going well, and it's all getting easier, but teething hard now and suddenly has more energy and is sleeping less.

I only feel really Comfortable taking my eye off her for longer periods around the house when she is either asleep or has a chew/kong keeping her occupied. We do have a baby gate so we can contain her in the kitchen when we need to.

What age do you reach the point when you dont have to watch &/ entertain them all the time when they aren't otherwise occupied with a chew, or sleeping? And what do they do exactly? 😂

@tabulahrasa I can report from the other side (of 1 year old) that housework will resume again. I gave the kitchen the full works with the dog pootling about around me this morning and only lost one scouring pad and a bit of kitchen roll Grin. Aside from that all tasks were completed with minimum interference, and that would have been impossible a few months ago.

@Scaredypup, that last message was for you, not @tabulahrasa!

Everyone in real life seems to have such ‘normal’ placid and agreeable puppies. I think they’re lying Grin
I was beginning to think I had a demon pup that would ever get better.

Oh mine does things while I’m also trying to do stuff, he’s by no means placid, I wish, lol.

I just treat dogs a bit like toddlers, if I need to do something that I know they’ll interfere with, I either do it with distractions for them or use it as a bit of training, or both.

I’m not saying it’s the same as alone, but I muddle through.

I do have fairly low standards for housework right enough, that helps too.
