Just want to preface by saying she is booked into the vets for Tuesday morning.

Ddog has hair loss, she's been scratching a lot, and now I'm noticing red sores at the bits she's losing hair. Ddog 2 is fine and they basically live to cuddle each other so I don't think it's something contagious. Any ideas on what this could be?! Google has scared me a bit. Thank you!

He's still hereGrin but it is quite a treatment plan and not all dogs do. But if it is Leish and you've caught it this early, there's a good prognosis for a long and healthy life. I'm happy for you to PM me, particularly if you have trouble navigating the FB page, where they have everything listed as to what you should ask the vet to do. It's worth eliminating Leish as a possibility before you start treating the skin, in my opinion.

Thanks everyone, getting her to a vet is going to be horrible for her but obviously needed.

Just wondering if it could be anal gland related if it's her back end?

tealandteal · 16/04/2022 23:39

For my DDog it was thyroid, it’s so hard to tell when it seems to be generalised. It took us a long time to get sorted and he was nearly bald at the back and on his face but all grown back now.

Last night was bad. She woke me up multiple times scratching her sides quite loudly. Going to try and move her appointment to tomorrow rather than waiting until Tuesday. Poor puppy.

These replies have told me that it basically could be anything!

My dog used to get sore spots on his lower back, whenever the weather started to get hot, He was a long coated dog, so I think the spots were caused by heat.

MrsWinters · 17/04/2022 16:02

If it’s under her harness wash it and her bedding. If you are keeping the site clean that could just be reintroducing the infection/irritant

My first Labrador used to suffer from wet eczema when the weather warmed up. Fur dropped out in a clump, leaving a sore, weepy, itchy bare patch. Another vote for Hibiscrub to keep it clean.

I was just wondering how your dog is? Hope you made it to the vet.

We got a cone...shaved the itchy bits. Doused with cool green tea and it is scabbed over and healing!! We know for sure they are hot spots though. Hope you got some answers op.
