My girl is suddenly incontinent and I'm so worried.

My gorgeous 9 year old had what appeared to be a UTI a few weeks ago. Urgency, blood in urine, unwell. Responded well to a weeks antibiotics.

Recurred just days after finishing the antibiotics and vet repeated for longer. No blood this time, but accidents in the house.

Again responded well but has come back days after finishing the second antibiotics.

We're waiting for a scan now and she's ok in herself but having accidents. Not dribbling, just sudden urge to go resulting in a puddle.

I'm so worried. Has anyone had experience of this?

this can be a sign of diabetes, I would ask the vet to check her out and do blood tests. hope she is ok, sending paw hugs.

Is she spayed? A significant proportion of spayed bitches become incontinent, though it can usually be treated with regular medication.

Talking to your vet is obviously the right way to go - but we had a bitch that suddenly developed incontinence at about the same age. It was spay-related and she was prescribed Propalin for the rest of her life. It's just a few drops added to each meal and it immediately "solved" the problem. As I recall, it also wasn't particularly expensive.

Yes she is spayed and the vet has prescribed a hormone while we wait for the scan. So far it's not made much difference but early days.

My worry is that whatever it is responded well to antibiotics, so something appears to be causing infections.

I'm over thinking I know.

Another one to say Propalin - my old lady has this from age 8 to 14. Simple solution to very common problem. Try not to worry.
