What’s the thing that your dog does that always makes you laugh

Lots of people ask for advice and help about their dogs- but we all know our pups bring so much joy to our families. What does yours do that always makes you laugh?
My 35kg boy always pops up to sit on my lap on work video calls- he never does it at any other time- but he seems to know my bosses voice means cats on screen and he likes watching them go back and forth.
One of mine also hides socks in the kitchen and then goes to the back door for me to open it and then darts back to grab his prize before shooting out. It makes me laugh so much because he knows he’s outwitted me!

My massive black lab steals food really obviously. He'll stand at the door with massive hamster cheeks and turns his head away so you can't see his stolen treasure. Forgets every time that I have to open the door for him and I'll take the stolen goods off him.

@LondonWolf

I also know a dog who comes and knocks over water bottles when his dish is empty and won't stop till you go and fill it up.
My old boy used to do something similar.

If he wanted something and felt we weren’t paying suitable attention to his requirements he would go in the bathroom and knock all the shampoo and shower gel, etc, bottles over with a loud crash.

If you put them right, but didn’t do his bidding, he would go back and do it again!

I have Autism and I am sure my German shepherd is autistic , when he is a pita it just makes me smile as I recognise so many traits

Years ago, my Wheaten Terrier girl used to beg for banana skins, she would even work/train for them. Didn’t want to eat them, just loved a really good long sniff. Confused

The Lurcher lad we lost in 2020 used to pull blankets over his head if he wanted to snooze in the day. I would regularly find him in bed with just his bum exposed. He would also sit next to visitors on the sofa with him bum on the sofa and feet on the floor, like a big furry person. That always raised a laugh. Oh and he would get all excited and wiggly when the cling or foil came out because he was obsessed with the cardboard tubes from the middle and desperate for you to finish the roll. He constantly did loads of things to make us laugh though, he was a real clown.

I’m loving these. There’s a golden retriever on my road who when he wrestles with other dogs always let’s them win. He got pinned by a 16 week dachshund last week, it was crawling all over him- so cute

My greyhound makes me laugh every time she shakes herself. It's totally uncoordinated and looks like she's lost control of her legs

iklboo · 03/04/2022 13:07

My lovely girl died quite a few years ago now, but she was a sod for sticking her muzzle in your cup & drinking your tea while you weren't looking. She was a whippet / greyhound cross so it was the perfect long, thin shape for getting right in there and finishing your brew off.

caringcarer · 03/04/2022 14:02

My 2 dogs climb up on sid board in front of window and wave their paw up and down to say bye to me when I go out. I wave at them and they wave back. Always makes me smile.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/04/2022 14:05

steals my apple that i take to work, forget to eat, bring it home and ddog eats it!

ProfessorLayton1 · 03/04/2022 14:55

Our 18month cockapoo has to quickly go to her bowl to take couple of her dry foods in her mouth when ever she goes out, even if she is near the door and has forgotten it she has to run back to get them!

dollymuchymuchness · 03/04/2022 15:08

@PuppyMonkey

My golden retriever has to go and answer the door whenever someone rings the bell, and he likes to bring a “gift” to greet each visitor - the gift is whatever he can find close to hand, whether it’s a cuddly toy, a grotty old chewed up sock, a loo brush, a loofah Grin

The Amazon deliverers like it anyway.

My Goldie was exactly the same. Once when the dirty washing was being sorted, she grabbed a pair of my pants and took them for the postman.
Artichokeleaves · 03/04/2022 15:11

Loving the gifting dogs Grin

Mine is utterly convinced that Amazon comes just to bring him boxes to tear up.

My lab (who is called Billy) is 100% autistic!

He has to pick something up to greet you, anything, and if he can’t find anything he gets into a right flap trying to look quickly. I think it’s a retriever thing!

He was so happy today that his tail started to way round and round in circles.

If you cough, sneeze, yawn to loudly or make any kind of unusual sound, he jumps up at you and licks to until you say “I’m ok, I’m OKKKKK!”

florentina1 · 03/04/2022 15:21

My dog never leaves my side and sleeps on my bed. She comes upstairs as soon as we go to bed. Except when DH stays up later. Then she lays on my floor until he comes up. Once all the lights are out , she checks he is in his room. Then will she jump up on the bed.

Also when we take the grandchildren to the park, she sulks because she is not allowed in the play area. She sits by the gate and will not move until they are all out. When we walk with them, she gets agitated if they go in different directions. She herds them back together.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 03/04/2022 15:24

This!

PuppyMonkey · 03/04/2022 15:35

@dollymuchymuchness Grin ah yes, the ancient instinct to retrieve... well, anything.

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 03/04/2022 15:40

Our border terrier jumps up and sits next to us at the kitchen table, on the bench seat - very sensibly and bolt upright like a human! It always cracks me up!

BathTangle · 03/04/2022 16:07

My nearly 13 year old cocker still takes a flying leap from the top step in the garden down to the lower level 3 steps below. I loved it when she was a tiny puppy and love it even more now as she is older than any other cocker we've had and it just shows that she's still the crazy girl who loves life.

afaloren · 03/04/2022 16:15

My lab just loves slippers. He doesn’t want to chew them, just have them in his mouth. He will go and get one and bring it to me. I’ll say, ‘Thank you,’ and put it out of reach. Then he’ll bring me other one, then start on DH’s!

He also does this thing when we are walking somewhere fun where he grins over his shoulder at me as if to say, ‘Isn’t this great?’ So cute.

StillSmallVoice · 03/04/2022 16:20

@gungemonster my greyhound does that. It's adorable. And zoomies. They are gorgeous. And the expressive ears. I could go on

Datsandcogs · 03/04/2022 16:50

My Lab sometimes chatters her teeth with excitement at the prospect of breakfast or supper, only for food and only in the few seconds before the bowl is put in front of her. Same dog will also bring you her oversized 6 foot long caterpillar when very pleased to see you.

A previous dog, smaller spaniel, would turn circles at the windows log off tone.

Stellaris22 · 03/04/2022 16:57

Ours stares at us, whining to be let on the sofa. We make space and do the 'come up' pats, but she continues whining and shuffling her back paws. She only gets up when we pointedly look away.

At night she does the same thing, only gets up when we turn our back on her.

roseberrycherry · 03/04/2022 17:07

My 1 year old cocker spaniel always lays her head on my neck for a snuggle in the morning. She's so affectionate.

GameofPhones · 03/04/2022 17:15

When I first got my rescue dog he was only interested in sniffing the shopping bags when I came home (not in me Sad). Now he sniffs the shopping, carefully steps over it and licks my ear, ending with the gentlest possible nip on my earlobe.

Friendofdennis · 03/04/2022 17:16

When he opens the door with his paw or pokes me in my back when I am in bed with his paw to get up. I don’t know why him using his paws like hands makes me laugh
