Best wet food for puppies with sensitive stomachs

ChenPup is a bit of a delicate flower and the slightest change seems to set his bowels off. I switched to Arden Grange sensitive recently and it was brilliant - nice, solid poops, hurrah! He's not a happy bunny though as he likes his wet food, and getting him to eat the kibble is a bit of a battle of wills. Can anyone recommend some wet food for sensitive tums? He's 7 months.

There is chicken fat in the arden grange so if that is causing no problems.......

It is a nightmare trying to get the right food. All I would say if you find one that works stick with it so many people will say it worked for my dog etc and you can spend £'s changing food to no avail.

Holy moly @PollyRoulllson, so there is - I just had a look at the packet after you posted that. Touch wood, he seems to be doing well on it (when I can get him to eat it that is)

Forthglade is really good
We mix in the fry too and do an 70/30 wet/dry pup loves it and hasn’t had any issues since being on it

Naturediet

Honestly @SirChenjins the Eden wet is brilliant.

No chicken, no grain, low fat, high protein and stuffed full of good things and suitable for puppies onwards.

More importantly, my dog gets it as a topper and as soon as he smells it he starts whining and hopping up and down, he loves it so much!

SirChenjins · 26/03/2022 16:31

@GuyFawkesDay - where do you buy the Eden wet food from?

I picked up a carton of Naturediet puppy in the Range of all places for £1! Will see how he gets on with that. Lamb Forthglade seemed to agree with him - just a couple of small spoons and half a sardine with his AG sensitive kibble, and nice solid poos. I’m becoming a bit obsessed and his bowel movements 🤢

I buy online, either direct from them, although Jurassic Bark are often good value.

They should have a list of local suppliers to you on their website.

Barking heads is a brand that contains no shit. Human quality. You can use the wet food as a topper for the dry food to make it more enticing. You can get matching wet and dry food from BH and fiddle with the ratio you feed.

My dog was not getting on with his previous food and this stuff has been great.

I wet the kibble with hot water , makes it a bit more appealing and haven't had huge issues ( I have a lot of pups coming to me with sensitive stomach )

BoodleBug51 · 26/03/2022 17:57

My eldest is horribly prone to colitis so we can never change his food. He's on Forthglade cold pressed kibble and has a Natures Menu country hunter sachet on top over 2 meals. I also feed the same to our sprocker - she had this from 6 months onwards even though it says adult www.naturesmenu.co.uk/superfood-selection-chdpf

Seems to really suit him and it's really good quality. He's a little shit and won't eat kibble on its own.

SirChenjins · 26/03/2022 19:02

Thanks for those last few recommendations - lots to try Smile

@stevalnamechanger I’ve tried soaking it but he just leaves it. He’s a fussy bugger, he really is.

How long does he leave it for?

Sometimes I find many leave their am meal for several hours and go back when they feel hungry!

SirChenjins · 26/03/2022 22:03

He’ll often go back to his dried kibble several hours later too - he’s currently eating his dinner kibble which is far later than I’d normally feed him, but he’s barely eaten anything today because I didn’t give in and give him more wet food so he must be hungry. He’s a stubborn monkey!

I’ve just ordered butternut box for my fussy/sensitive pup 🤞🏼

Chappie definitely
One of my girls has had IBD all her life & after years of antibiotics, every prescription diet known to vet, at six years old I put her on Chappie. She’s now fifteen & rarely has a problem except if she gets her nose into one of the other girls “ more interesting “ dish. One of the very worst things to set her off is the ubiquitous chicken & rice often recommended by vets for a dose of the squirts.
