How can I stop my landlord's dogs barking?

Just that... Are there any interactive dog toys you'd recommend, like an automatic ball launcher? I'm prepared to spend a bit as a gift if it will solve the problem of my landlord's two dogs barking incessantly when left alone all day in the garden together.

I'm not a dog owner but guess they are bored, and am also guessing that no one realises how noisy they are when left to themselves. They might just assume they play quietly together. I can only think they are shouting for attention, and the dogs might even believe that it's their barking that eventually brings people back home to play with them (?)!

I can't entertain them myself as I am trying to work!

All suggestions very gratefully received.

There is nothing you can do to stop it to be blunt
What has your landlord said when you told them the dogs bark all day?

BluebellStreet · 20/03/2022 13:51

Get noise cancelling headphones.

Report the landlord. Can be anonymously. What an arsehole leaving the dogs outside all day. Poor things.

You can't do anything. The owner has to deal with the issue with is either boredom or separation anxiety. Toys from you won't solve the issue - which is that the dogs are being left alone for far too long.

Have you spoken to the landlord and told them how noisy the dogs are?

Thank you all for your input -- I appreciate it.

Yes, I've mentioned it. It's early days yet, so hard to tell how often this is going to happen. I'm hoping it won't be every day, and that there have been extenuating circumstances so far!

Are you in the same house? If you are home during the day would you be able to let them into the garden to go to the loo on your lunch break?
I'm thinking they might settle and sleep if they were just left in the kitchen, but outside are more agitated. But that your landlord doesn't want them inside incase they toilet?

What has your LL said when you talked to them about it?

TooMuchPaper · 21/03/2022 11:59

Are there neighbours who are being impacted by the barking as well?

Your landlord sounds like an inconsiderate person. I had nbs like this, a pair of doctors, who you might think had reasonable levels of intelligence and to be decent human beings .... not the case. Their two dogs were left out in a cage all day every day, and barked the entire time. I was working from home. They refused to believe me as the dogsof course didn't bark all the time when the owners were home. I suggested they drive away as usual then park near and walk back to hear the barking. They refused. We moved. Twats. There are really so many people with dogs who really shouldn't have them.

Frozen peanut butter in kongs
Long lasting chews
But I really would ask you LL to bring the dogs inside ....
