Hi all we are due to get this spanador ( cocker spaniel/ labrador cross) . Wondered if anyone had this mix before? We are calling her Rosie. I grew up with labradors my whole life as my father used to puppy walk them for the guide dogs. We have waited until the youngest is older before getting this dog.

In my experience they are like Labradors on crack Grin. But not always, it really depends on what the parents are like are they working dogs etc. She should be smart as anything though and take to training well. Congratulations on your new family member!

Both parents are working dogs with good temperament. We are looking forward to getting her.

I'd expect a mix of two working line dogs to be very intelligent and energetic and to need a lot of mental stimulation as well as physical.

With both parents from working lines she’s likely to be intelligent and busy.
No guarantee of appearance, often they end up like a small lab with long cocker ears, both breeds have ear problems so you need to know how to clean them regularly. Also she may be susceptible to hip and elbow problems.
She looks lovely and should be very easy to train. But it can be pot luck with mixed breads.
My uncle has a boxer/springer mix which on paper should be a nightmare but is actually a lovely laid back dog.
My sister has a pug/poodle/beagle mix white all the bad characteristics. He is a nightmare despite lots of training. Even the dog trainer gave up on him. Fortunately he is very friendly and good with other dogs, just very naughty.

She should be lovely if you give her what she needs - love, play and guidance. If her parents are working dogs, she is going to be bright and driven. You'll need to give her the chance to express her innate drives (which will mean training her so that those don't get out of your control) and also show her how to self-settle at home.

I've got two high-drive gundogs, and I give them each some training time maybe 5 days a week, and use walks to rehearse recall, stop and directions. They are usually very chilled at home, even the younger one who isn't yet 2 - we get the odd mad moment, but they'll sleep for hours.

Hells bells, that’s going to be one driven dog.
Working lines of both breeds need lots of mental stimulation and exercise.
