Did you find there was much difference going from one to two? Obviously I know there is a financial difference.

But more do you find it harder? We are considering in the not too distant future to maybe get a second when our now puppy is older, but wanted to hear the pros/cons from people who have done it

@Doglikeahorse agree entirely. I have three, as well, and it's very different.

With two, you're a dog owner with two pet dogs.

With three, you're a dog person with a pack. It's much harder, both practically - holding three leads, finding care for three when away, car space - and because you have to manage the pack.

I love all my girls individually but sometimes split them up to walk then, and am just blown away to how easy and relaxing it is. I don't have to be alert to what the pack is doing.

I don't know if I'd have 3 again.

@FrecklesMalone

My favourite moment was when the very competitive, ball-obsessed old girl "taught" the first pup how to get a ball. It was like when you let a small child "win" a race. She ran to the ball and pushed it to the pup. Once the pup had learnt how to get it, the old dog went back to full competitive mode. Amazing to watch.
It reminds me of when we got our puppy. Our older dog is 5 feet tall and 36kg, when they played together he would roll onto his back and pretend that the tiny puppy had beaten him, it was so funny.

Over many years we have more often had 2 than 1. Our current dog (toy poodle) was 5 when we got a Yorkie puppy last summer. I put off getting another dog for ages because poodle pup was really hard work as a puppy - I literally never had a moments peace and she was a real shark! However, little Yorkie pup has been so easy, he just copies the other dog all the time. So sweet when they both hold out a paw to shake in unison.
They are friends and sleep and play together, but jealousy can set in if you are not even handed.
To me, the biggest problem of 2 or more dogs is the expense. Twice everything soon tots up.
