Destructive at Night

Hi all, Pup will be 2 in July and we recently weaned her off the crate. She loved her crate as she gets a bit anxious so kept it up for longer than anticipated as she just loved going to bed in it. However for the past few months she's not been sleeping in it at all for naps or night and has been happy to lounge around the sofa, no issues. I left the crate up while I saw how she went on and just didn't tell her to go in and she chose not to use it. Put the crate away in the garage about 2 weeks ago, all was well.

However the last 2 nights she's gone back to the tiny puppy destruction days. Chewed the edges of the living room carpet, pulled up the grippers and loads of underlay. The first night it happened I glued the area all back down, spent extra time with her in the evening, put new chew toys out so she has plenty of options for ripping and chewing. Last night same again, toys ignored but different area of the floor destroyed. Carpet, grippers, underlay all chomped up. Now the carpet is fairly old and will need replacing soon anyway so I'm not overly upset about that, but more concerned as obviously the grippers are sharp and I don't want her to hurt herself if she gets any more up. Also concerned as to why this destructive behaviour has suddenly come back. She was at the vet for kennel cough booster only last week and vet said she's in perfect health, so not poorly or acting out of pain.

Do I need to bring the crate back? Is there anything more anyone would suggest to do? She has 2 walks per day and 2 full days at doggy daycare so has plenty of stimulation and definitely seems tired. Could it be just another bit of rebellious teen phase? I don't want to sleep in with her and there's no other room she can go in. But am worried as to what she'll try next (tv cables etc) so any thoughts would be really useful please!

If she's happy in a crate then I would go with that, to be honest.

It's much better to have her in a crate at night than for her to be in a situation where she could get herself hurt. The last thing you want is for her to end up with a bowel perforation or blockage!
