I have a staffy x aged 6 . Recently she's been limping after rest on her hind leg . I took her to the vets who did X-rays and said it's probably her cruciate ligament. X-rays confirmed there was no actual tear if the ligament . No operation required as yet .
I've been advised to rest her 3x5 min walks daily only on lead .
She's on 2 lots of meds 1 being metacam daily .
Has anyone else had this issue

Yes, my childhood dog had cruciate ligament disease in both legs. Required surgery in the end. I think it was about £4,500 for each leg back in 2012. It greatly improved her quality of life.

My understanding is that it can sometimes be cured with just medication, physiotherapy and rest over a number of weeks. Hopefully this is the case for your puppy.

My German Shepard had surgery for this at a year old he lived with until he was 13

I could be wrong as I’m not any sort of professional, but my understanding of it is...

It’s commonish, especially in certain breeds, treatment seems to often depend on size, with larger dogs usually needing surgery (not sure what the cut off is) and if one goes it’s likely the other will at some point too.

But if it’s not actually torn yet, it might well be fine after the resting and what have you.
