Hi folks,

I've got an 8-month-old golden retriever and obviously we will be going back to the vets but in the meantime I want to ask if there is anyone who can shed any light?

She has just finished a 6-day-course of clavaseptin for a fever of unknown origin and just generally being miserable, during and following a UK holiday. Really, really off food before, and actually that was for quite a few weeks prior thinking about it. Very tricky behaviour, which made me think she was coming into season but didn't happen. After about 36 hours on antibiotics she was my happy, waggy dog again. Appetite returned with a vengeance, and she has demolished her food whilst on them.

Last antibiotics on Saturday evening. Sunday, ate her breakfast with gusto, had a long bouncy walk, came home... refused her dinner totally.

Picking at breakfast today. Has eaten probably a fifth of her normal quantity.

She isn't hot, as far as I can tell from her ears, not totally lethargic like she was before the course of antibiotics but something is just not quite right.

I will take her to the vets tomorrow if her appetite doesn't pick up.

Poos etc seem normal-ish, although yesterday she got hold of some charred wood and ate the charcoaled bits, so poo is suitably dark this morning!

Nothing obvious found by vet last time, no mouth blobs or swelling or cuts, no broken teeth, stuck sticks in mouth/ throat, by the way.

I would want a full blood test to see if that shows up anything if symptons are still present.

Yep, I think that sounds sensible. Should pick up if there is an infection somewhere less obvious. I'm still 'learning' her, but having seen her gobbling up her grub last week I'm pretty confident there is something bothering her.
