I pay via Animals Friends

I've just been looking at insurance for new pup. I've never insured before but my springer burned through a fortune in 8 years so pup will be insured for as much as possible.

@PugInTheHouse

I was recommended £4-6k for new pup, I am now worried that's not enough. The advice is so confusing.
I would get as much coverage as you can afford. 4-6k won't go far if pup needs emergency treatment on a weekend of Bank Holiday.

I will definitely go for more. On tesco insurance it says £4k us enough for 97% of their claims, £7.5k is enough for 99% of their claims. If you're in that 1-3% though Shock

Have you been to the vets for anything yet?

I have only £4K and I can't increase it as we have claimed for just about every body part.

I did ask about 2 years ago if they would consider increasing the amount but they said they would have to write to my vets for an up to date history and then go back to the underwriters but I knew due to our history that we would be turned down so didn't bother but if you haven't been for anything yet and can afford it I would consider increasing the amount covered especially if your mn name is indicative of your dogs breed.

Yes, that's the risk!

I just know I can't lay my hands on 15k at the drop of a hat, and I would hate to decline treatment because I hadn't paid for enough insurance.

@BiteyShark this is for new pup so no, think current 1 Yr old is insured for £4k but we've never claimed anything for him. Only thing we've visited about is him eating a poisonous caterpillar when he was 4 months and having a cough at same age.
