More enjoyable food than Jwb?

Our male shihtzu is 1. 14 months to be precise.
Was on Jwb from birth so we kept him on it. He's healthy and it keeps him well but he doesn't enjoy it.
So last month I did a trial of Tails.com. Well, he absolutely loved it, but he pooed twice as much, and he started being sick a little every other night or so, just bile really but it had never happened before.
So switched him back to Jwb. He's back to normal, but, he looks so sad! When I fill his bowl he looks like he could cry, then he sits down to eat it, reluctantly.
Can't have my boy feeling like this, so what should we try instead? It needs to be a dry food. And not too much more expensive than Jwb really if possible.

My girl was the same on JWB. We put her on Iams Lamb flavour and she actually likes it. She's never going to be enthusiastic about food, but she eats the Iams everyday without fail which has never happened before.

Maybe give him a bit of soft food as well? My dog has kibble but also half a tin of Butchers tripe a day.

He has a sensitive stomach but this seems to suit him.

Thanks for the recommendations, I will look into these!

We did try him when he was about 6 months for a while with the butchers grain free mixed in, he loved it and was fine for a, while then started getting upset stomach. Stopped it and was fine again. Was thinking maybe mix a bit of tuna in? But would that be OK for everyday?

Butternut Box is absolutely delicious (according to my dogs!).

Have you looked on the allaboutdogfood.co.uk website. It's a good resource for finding the most nutritious dog foods as some of the more popular brands are nutritionally very poor.

Sardines are better and cheaper than tuna. Lower down the food chain so less heavy metals and other pollutants. Our dog likes them in tomato sauce.

Autarky is a very reasonably priced kibble, worth checking out.

We feed our hound Baileys kibble. He's a greyhound and the vet who looks after lots of greys at kennels recommended it to a very experienced hound-owning friend. Its not cheap, but with a little meat topper (Forthglade 'Just' range is very good quality) he eats it up. We tried several before landing on this (Eden, Wainwright's, Burns).
