Halter vs Halti?

I have a large breed 9 month old dog (giant pup really Grin). I am doing my best with walking however she is a bit of a puller, I am fine day to day on our rural walks however I really need something for when we are in a busier public space (like a school run) as it is hard to manage if I'm on my own with her and 2 young DCs as she desperately wants to say hi to other dogs and any person who acknowledges her. She is super friendly and non threatening but I appreciate that not everyone would like a bear hug from a dog nearly their height Blush and I would also really appreciate my arm staying in my socket whilst I'm herding DCs to their classes.

I have looked at the halter/figure of 8 leads and I have also seen the Halti headcollars and was wondering if anyone could recommend one? I quite like that the halter ones could be taken off their nose however the Halti one looks padded and maybe comfier?

Has anyone used any of these?

To get her to accept it you will need to condition her. Can take between half an hour or a couple of days. Favourite bribes are required.

The head wear needs to be a bit uncomfortable when they pull. If it is painful or injury inflicting, you have lost. It does help to get someone more experienced to help sort the fit and use.

It's an Eagloo type. Two loops for different lead positioning - I always connect in the back loop - and a handle to grab on the occasions he's extra bouncy.

He pulled so much before and it's really helped.

I can walk two wolfhounds easily on a dogmatic. Yes you need to train a loose lead walk but I like the reassurance when there are lots of people about or the dogs are excited!

I 100% agree with using both loops on the harness. We use a lead splitter and then our normal lead (one with the double handle so I can hold her closer in traffic etc). So clip both ends of the lead splitter to the clips on the harness and adjust, clip the lead to the splitter ring and you're away.
It's a game changer.
Our dog is big and strong. She is almost 5 and had never been trained to walk loose lead. The outside world is a new and exciting place for her (ex breeding bitch).
I'd love to not rely on "fabric" and to just train her. She is very much a work in progress.
Our harness is Woofles. Lovely helpful people, I would recommend
