We finally got to a point our labrador was very well behaved. He stopped chewing, he stopped eating stuff he shouldn't, stopped whining, stopped eating his 💩. However, this past week or so, he's gone back to basics!

Please tell me its a blip they quickly get over? Grin

How old is he? They definitely go through teenage hell for a good 5-6 months Grin

There is a very short gap between the joys of puppyhood (incessant chewing, eating everything, leaving their brains behind) and the joys of teenagerhood (eating everything, running away, forgetting everything they have learned).

The gap is about from age 5 months to 7 months. Then they are monsters again until some time after a year, later if they are male and not neutered.

They become rather nice at about age 2 Grin

I'm usually inclined to say the first 18 months with a puppy are hell.
So my only advice is perseverance will pay off in the end.

He's 17 months old. Grin

I have a theory (and so sorry if this doesn’t apply) but every time my pup is doing well and I’m feeling all smug and happy I also seem to relax my training and stop being so disciplined and then dpup creeps back to being a bit of a pickle… then I reflect and realise I’ve slacked off things. But also agree until they are 2 everyday is a training day Envy

@Eyeofthetiggger You've got it!

We even had a trainer in towards the end of last year as he was being such a pain!

From the first session, he was amazing! 'No Mrs Trainer. I'm a good boy. Look at me all settled on the floor. I do as im told! Im a good boy!'

After three sessions, we flounced around, telling anybody and everyone what a good boy he is now, he is an absolute dream... now he's gone back to a nightmare!! 😆
