Hi everyone; so I'll openly admit I love my dog to death and am probably over thinking things but he had a terrible start and we've worked so hard to overcome some of his issues I'm always mindful of setting him back.

We found an excellent dog walker in the past year and on 2 previous trips our dog has boarded with him & his partner, no problems at all.

He has however recently acquired a 3 legged rescue (not intentionally). Our dog is a bull breed and whilst not dog aggressive is very boisterous and full on with other dogs (something we're working on with our behaviourist).

Dilema is we're supposed to be going away March, we're attempting to introduce the dogs calmly but I can't see all of his issues bring resolved by March. Dog walker has said if boarding them together isn't a possibility he'll stay at ours for the week but then he'll also be out a lot during the day all week with his other walks. Currently our dog is only left for 3 days a week (not all day).

We'll make it work this time but I'm wondering wether it might be worth looking at these luxury dog boarding hotels? There's some locally and they look great but then I also worry about the length of time he's alone and him getting depressed!

Sorry for the length! Any words of wisdom, suggestions? I would look at house sitters but we've had some disasters with other walkers/daycare I'm worried about introducing new people.

I’d personally stick to your usual dog walker, especially if they are happy to stay in your home too! Can you book him in for an extra walk/drop in during the week?

We'll be sticking with the walker this time as it's to short notice to arrange anything else. He'll be back and forth throughout the day but my dog will be left longer than he's used to, he's fine when left but I worry he's depressed as he won't leave his bed 😂

I just worry my walker won't want to keep house sitting (it's not a service he actively advertises) especially if we're away for a longer trip. We're also out of his typical area of walks but he very kindly comes out of his way for us. But that means if he stays at ours all his other clients will be out of the way!

I used a luxury kennel for the first time last year. We were due to go to New York but restrictions were still in place so holiday was cancelled. I wanted to see how DDog would get on as he'd either stayed with my late DM or had dog walker stay if just a weekend, so we went to London for a couple of days and DDog had a whale of a time on a smallholding. He got lots of long walks and exercise, and lots of attention. They have a max of 12 at any time. We have a border collie and he has a routine but he was absolutely fine. No problems adjusting when he got home. I've booked him in again for later this year as we're going abroad in October. I'd recommend giving it a go.

That's good to know thanks. I think we'll try him for a weekend at some point just to see how he is and so we know for future reference. We're taking the dog on holiday as well in June so he's not missing out completely!
