Could hormones be making my dog more aggressive and could neutering help?

Massively reactive Rottweiler. Due in season in the next couple of months and her reactivity is worse than ever. Could having her neutered help with her reactivity/nervous aggression?

What is she reactive to? How old is she? Spaying may help but it's in no way guaranteed.

Reactivity really benefits from professional help and advice. I'd hold off spaying (for now) and spend the £ on an accredited behaviourist. Start here: www.apbc.org.uk/find-an-apbc-member/# Look for a Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB).

In the meantime, don't walk her anywhere she is likely to react - which likely means less walks and those that do happen involve driving to an empty field etc somewhere. You can often rent fields for this purpose.

Don’t let her practise the behaviour
But agree that you need a qualified behaviourist to help you and they will know if neutering is indicated. It is not for my dog at the moment as he is an anxous dog and it will affect confidence but that’s on advice from both a vet specialising in behaviour and a behaviourist. If you are insured by bought by many/pet plan they include cover for behaviourists
