Dry dog food issue

My puppy is 6 months old. We have had a tricky time getting him to eat dry food. We've tried lots of different makes. He seems to be more interested in Wainwrights from pets at home and also Forthglade which is about twice the price of Wainwrights. Can I mix them and continue this way or should I get him on the one I want him to have? Ideally I need him on the cheaper one but I know that sounds terrible.

The only dry food our dog would eat is Natural Variety (dry frozen food). It's dry food but looks a bit different to kibble. He is crazy about it.

As for your question, I'm no expert, but I think there is no harm to mix the two different kibbles.

Thanks. It's frustrating that he went for the most expensive! A 6kg bag is about the same price as a 15kg bag of the other 🙈😂 he does seem to eat a bit of both but now he seems to prefer the pellets of the cold compressed expensive one.

Mine are really fussy too!

I buy some tins of butchers type meat and mix a small amount through the biscuits. Works every time!
I also add other random things as I use them, meat/egg/veg/pasta.

You could also try soaking them so they are soft and warm. Sometimes that works.

We use toppers too. Sardines once a week, a blob of yogurt, left over steamed veg (not kale though, that gets left on the kitchen floor!) and like pp half a tin of Butchers.

Out dog loves Chudleys salmon and we get it from a pet warehouse place so works out pretty good. It smells really fishy so I can see why it's appealing. Her coat looks great too!

At this age, lots of dogs are difficult to feed. They just never seem that bothered about food - but often come round to it more when they mature.

Wainwrights + healthy toppers might be a nice compromise. Or even some wainwright's wet food topping their kibble. But you can also 'mix' kibbles if that suits you better.

We use a mix of both wet and dry without any issues however both are really high in meat content, this is the wet food we use www.frescodog.co.uk/collections/wet-food . Main thing to remember is the calorie intake of each, if recommedation is 200g per day of dry you can simply half this and add 100g of wet, wet food contains water so you feed x2 to x3 of what it would be dry.
