Here’s to the dog-owners who:

Use leads
Control their dog
Call their dog away and apologise for even minor unwanted encounters
Discipline their dog, not fellow walkers

I enjoy complimenting your beautiful dog as I walk past and I like seeing you look proud of self and dog.

May your kind become the dominant variant!

A walk filled mostly with dog owners like that is a very pleasant thing indeed!
Pleased to say our New Year Walk this morning was mostly populated by that type, ditch-snorkeling baggage of a teenage Lab notwithstanding (but she belongs to us and did not bother anyone else Grin ).

Thank you on behalf of responsible owners.

My dog is never off the lead and is never allowed to wander far from us. She is an old lady and just likes to potter.

She is utterly harmless but she isn't a fan of bouncy dogs and is nervous around men so for her own sake I keep her on lead.

Brilliant. Also to those who pick ip mess and take it to a bin!

And I'd like to say a big thank you to people who put their dog on lead when they see me coming with mine who is on a long line as she is very nervous. It's really appreciated and helps me with getting her more comfortable around four legged friends

“Brilliant. Also to those who pick ip mess and take it to a bin!”

Insert the words “straight away” and I’m right there. Thank you responsible poo-wranglers x

And those who recognise that your dog is nervous!
I was walking mine this morning..she is nervy and sometimes reactive and I saw a man with a GSD cross (one of her NOPE! dogs) He saw me clip her lead on (we were off lead in a quiet field) and promptly took his dog behind a hedge so that we could pass without the dogs even seeing each other!
I think his dog was reactive too by the speed of his disappearance, but shouted a 'Thank YOU!' from a safe distance :)

It meant we had a perfectly calm, happy walk ..perfect!

I think in recent years we've seen a dramatic decline is responsible dog owners so when you do come across the odd one or two out and about, it's like a breath of fresh air.

I absolutely love to see what's become an increasing number of younger, first time owners that show more courtesy, manners, common sense and put effort into training their dogs than most who have had them their whole life.

It amazes me how often you find poo bags hanging from tree branches like bizarre Christmas tree baubles. They've gone to the trouble of bagging it up and sealing the goods - what's the isssue with just hanging on until you reach a bin?

"Ooh look! A tree!! Let's hang this bag of steaming shit from it - brighten up the countryside a little"

I shall not think about such people on this thread. This thread is to celebrate the responsible dog owners

Met two lovely responsible dog owners today out in the countryside who were very apologetic because I had to get out of the way of the dogs on a narrow path – no apology was really needed but it was still very kind of them.
