Dd 16 has been v poorly the past year and in hospital a fair bit. She has researched a lot as have we and think the time is right. Where do we start looking? Want to find one from a reputable breeder and not to be ripped off. It will be our first dog and thinking of a Cockapoo.

they will pee everywhere and no matter what your kids say, they will not clean up pee!

Haha yes!!

I don't regret getting our puppy at all, he is amazing. But the peeing was horrendous. And he was housetrained pretty well by 6 months. We watched him.like a hawk but he still managed to ruin the carpets. The anti-bacterial /enzyme cleaner meant they didn't smell, but oh my god, the staining was unbelievable.

We had to replace our carpets downstairs with hard flooring which cost over £2000, so unless you already have hard floors I would factor that in.

Make sure you trust the breeder. Oh and pee mats are a must.

Pee mats only encourage the dog to think peeing indoors is an option - take them outside to pee from day one

Read ‘The Puppy Listener’ by Jan Fennell.

I’d steer clear of cockapoos . Doodle Aid is a revoking charity specifically for poodle cross breeds. They recently put up a post on their fb page stating that something like 80-85% of pleas for help are from cockapoo owners. Just go for a poodle - miniature would be a good fit. That would be my choice. They look just like cockerpoos if you don’t give them a silly haircut.
