Absolutely, but if you need to give your dog up, do it through the proper channels.

People aren't necessarily criticising people who need to rehome, they're criticising people selling their dogs on Gumtree to any random who has the cash.

@Kenwouldmixitup - this is NOT good news .

It just means dogs are being sold on Gum Tree so owners can recoup some of their investment, with no concern of whether their family pet is going to a good home.

I was offered a puppy free last week, as I own the same breed...so sad, owner couldn't take it with them to new rented accommodation.

So you go to a breed specific rescue. Or find a proper home that you know. Or any one of a number of things which don't involve selling dogs like used cars to anyone with the cash.

And IME 'housing issues' are frequently very foreseeable. You buy a pet with multiple contingencies. Not hoping for the best.
