Boarding a greyhound

I need to start boarding my greyhound (home boarding) and am being a bit ridiculous about the idea of leaving him as he has such a set bedtime routine , even down to how I stroke him. I can't imagine how he will feel, and how I will feel! Found a nice boarder and will do a few single overnights over the year as I want him to get used to it, and to free me up to do a few things as he has SA - although not at night , he sleeps on his own downstairs

I know I'm projecting my feelings onto the dog! Can anyone help me get into what his mindset will be ? Just worries me as he's an anxious dog but I hope being with other hounds on a regular basis will be nice for him, although I think the first time might be a bit weird.

If they have other hounds, then its quite possible that he will spend so much time zooming with them that he'll be tired out by bedtime and snore in a pile of pointies! My snowflake lurcher who normally goes to sleep under the duvet in the arms of my son loves going to home boarding because of the others. He is also less snowflakey with her in general, and bounces in with joy to see her.

Yes we walk with others and he's a different dog to when he walks with me ! With me he stops, sniffs, stares..... bit of a potter, repeat.
With others he's charging forward!!

I have a lurcher who’s a total snowflake and he hated his first dog boarding place but his existing doggy daycare is like a second home to him now.

I've only had him 3 months so I worry it's a bit soon, but a friend said the longer I leave it the harder it will be. I'm training with the SA but I can't see us ever getting beyond an hour (we got there , now back at 15 mins!), so I do need to occasionally have some time to go out without him

I figure boarding will either help with the SA by making him less dependent on me, or make it worse by making him even more nervous Confused

Ah well 3 months in and SA might make things trickier at this point. A dog boarder will likely also need to leave him for short periods throughout the day. I’d probably want to crack the SA a bit more before leaving him with someone else unless he just goes for short periods initially to build up a bond

Just be sure it's a boarder who doesn't also dogwalk so they're regularly being left. Is there the option to do a half/full daytime rather than overnight initially, it maybe less stressful all-round.
My lurcher is unsettled when left on her own now (except in the car) but but totally fine with hound company, was he an ex-racer and kenneled?

Yes my criteria is he's not left alone, I wouldn't want him left with other dogs alone anyway
