Best harness for DDog

Any suggestions for a harness for DDog ? she walks beautifully on a slip lead, no pulling, so don't need it to control her, just for in the car so I can attach a clip in seatbelt lead to her.

If you are using it in the car you need a crash tested harness. Very few are properly crash tested, but I believe, Kurgo and Ezydog make them and there are also the Clickit harnesses by Sleepypod (you can actually watch their crash tests on their YouTube channel).

It’s worth doing a bit of research and reading plenty of reviews, as some seen to suit different breeds better than others.

Personally I wouldn't use them. I would always use a crash tested crate or boot guard. The harnesses are not crash tested for the safety of the dogs but for the people in the car.

Agree with PP, the ruffwear loadup is another option. Most on the market are just to restrain the dog from distracting driver/leaping out and won't do anything to protect the dog or the car occupants in a crash. It's quite a shocker watching the crash test dummy dog footage and they are low speed impacts. www.centerforpetsafety.org/test-results/harnesses/2013-harness-crash-test-videos/

There are no safety standards to meet like child seats and companies can advertise their product as crash tested but if they aren't showing the footage in the promotion it's probably because it failed.

I just use a regular harness for the car and we have a metal guard in between the front and back seats so if there is an accident, he can't come flying through and hit us.

Mine is an Eagloo harness and it was £20 from Amazon.

I don't really buy into the crash tested harnesses because I think they're more for the safety of the occupants than the dog.

Mine won't travel in the boot as a) ours is pretty small and b) if he can't see where he's going he just howls and barks. Much safer and less distracting to have him in the backseat.

I meant to add, I've been in an accident with the dog in the back where my car was totalled.

He was absolutely fine.

Thank you for the replies. Its only for short car journeys, 15 minutes max, she lies down on the back seat when travelling, so just wanted to be able to secure her in that position. She doesn't leap about or do anything distracting, apart from the occasional noxious smell Wink Will look at a boot guard for DH's car as we tend to use his for longer journeys, she has never been in a crate, so not sure how she would feel about that, might see if I can borrow one to try.
