Do you spoil your dog?

I was looking for dog chews online tonight and ended up ordering a treat box from Betty & Butch (www.bettyandbutch.co.uk/collections/festive-deli-boxes/products/rudolphs-boredom-box) for a Christmas present for Ddog. Sent a link to my friend who also has a dog who responded: "Jesus, you spoil her".

Now I'll admit that it's a little posh as dog chews go, but I wouldn't have thought of it as spoiling her (that would have been if I'd ordered the 100 quid memory foam dog bed I was looking at the other day that she definitely doesn't need). And, she does have a few different jackets and jumpers, and sleep in the bed with me, and get fussed over, which I'm also told is spoiling her, although I think is just natural?

So, what constitutes spoiling a dog to you, and do you spoil yours? Grin

We spoil her in terms of love and affection and cuddles, but there are boundaries. She’s allowed to sleep on the sofa and our bed in the evening and throughout the day, but then goes in her crate overnight. We give her snacks and treats, but never from our plates at the table, as we don't want her bothering people when they’re eating. She goes to a very expensive doggy daycare place twice a week, where she has the most amazing time learning to do agility. She also has a breed specialist dog Walker (border collie) who comes and takes her out for walks/has her for the day when we need her looking after and who also does training with her. I’ve invested vast amounts of time into socialising her and weekend days are scheduled around making sure she has suitable activities and walks etc. She is wonderful and she is part of the family, and I would liken it to almost having another child in terms of responsibilities. I was the more reluctant party in terms of getting a dog, DH and DS were the driving force, but I am completely overwhelmed by how much I adore her. She has such a personality, and individual relationships with each of us.

Just looked at those boxes. What happens with the lamb ears? Do they eat them or just chew them? Never seen them sold before and felt a bit squeamish when I saw them!😭

They eat them the same as they do with all the natural chews - mine has things like rabbit skins, cows ears, braided lamb tendons, pizzle sticks (cow penises), cows hooves and all sorts more. He loves them!

@icedcoffees thank you!

Ah, well I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Also taking notes from all of these posts for new ways to spoil her.

Like so many of you said, it is just treating her well and like a valued member of the family imo. It makes things more pleasant all round too - good stuff for her to chew on keeps her busy and entertained, grain free food makes her poo easier to deal with it, she's healthier and has a lovely shiny coat from it too, she sleeps longer and more deeply in a comfy bed with a jumper on, etc.

Also I had a no idea that was what pizzle sticks were! @icedcoffees Ddog has just had one too Grin

My dog is so spoilt that he takes me to the pet shop to buy him chews. He already has 7 Christmas presents and I’m twitching that it’s not enough 🙈.
