Please help. Im at the end of my tether. I cant begin to explain to you how many flea videos, forums, and vets ive watched and spoke to. We live in a household with one dog and 2 cats and short of shaving their fur and want to give them all up.

Ive been battling this flea infestation now for months and it doesnt seem to be getting any better. Problem is i live with my dps parents and we have a baby (who is also getting bitten). They dont want any "harsh" chemicals but literally every room except 1 is carpeted so their house is a breeding ground.

What really pisses me off is dps mum is more worried about her dog than me. Ive only recently had a baby and trying to get my head around my new body and scarring only to now have a bloody collection of horrible flea bites ranging up from my ankle to leg. Its leaving permnant scarring and its making me depressed. The bites dont just come up as a little red dot anymore, they come up in yellow cystic lump that either end up bursting or bleeding. I look diseased. Ive asked dps mum if she would consider flea bomb when i was desperate and upset and she said no, but the other day her precious dog (who keeps scratching himself and his fleas all over all my cleaning) came up in some bumps and she was in dismay! She suggested flea bombs (although she still hasnt and clearly wont do it) and kept pining over how bad he must be.

Im furious. Ive spent so much money on flea shampoo and sprays. Hoovered the entire house like crazy and trying to wash everything like a mad man. All animals have had flea treatments and seresto collars.

There is really nothing more i can do.

Sorry for the rant i just really needed to vent. Its an endless battle and the fleas are winning. It got so bad i couldnt even shower or wear trousers because my legs where covered in bites all over.

I want to give up the animals but i have no control over them. Nothing is worth this level of anguish and suffering.

Please help

Im hoping to find a support group with the focus on flea infestation. Are there any out there?

The source of the problem is the house so unfortunately it is going to have to be a treatment like indorex, one that has a growth regulator. You need to do everywhere even if there’s no carpet or the animals don’t go there. Beware of over treating the animals, once that have flea treatment on don’t give them another within the time frame or spray/bath with any other flea treatments, this could cause them to be ill. People make the mistake of thinking the animals are the problem when actually it’s the house.

FLEAS! All the stages of flea life cycle are terrible! It's almost unbelievable that these little nasty parasites cause so much pain physically and mentally as well! I'm giving up! How do you get them out of your clothing? Please don't say wash in hot water because that hasn't worked for me. These lil bastards are not of this world! How do they survive hot water washes and very hot dryers?

OP just get a huge can of indorex spray and do it when they are out this is for the health of your baby. It's that or move out, I'm sorry - a PP has noted allowing a flea infestation to go unchecked would be a welfare issue.
Also Advocate is rubbish - you need Stronghold. It's expensive but it does work.

I've lived with dogs and cats all my life never had a flea issue only once. The flea issue came about as my cat disappeared for two month missing. At that point his flea treatment had run out. When we got him back he was riddled. You need first prescription medication on the cat and all pets. Put the cat in the bath and brush with a flea comb. Have a cup of vinegar to put fleas and eggs in. Get a flea spray , powder and hoover and deep clean your full home. Let the cat in every room it will walk about and has medication on and any live fleas will be wiped out. I've never heard of eggs lasting 17 years. Eggs will hatch that's why you need to hoover constantly. Put flea powder in hoover bag. It takes 12 weeks to break the cycle. Unfortunately chemicals need to be used otherwise they will just breed. Also make sure you spray all soft furnishings. Get a smoke bomb they are harmless. If mother in law won't use chemicals then move out it's the only way. You need a vet prescription for fleas for dog and cats.
