Puppy excitement wees

We have a lovely 11 week old lagotto pup, who is doing beautifully. I take him to my parents' house every day to say hello (on our walk - they live close by). He is mad about them, and when they answer the door he leaps about madly and wees everywhere. This also happens when they pop over here, especially with my DF. He never does it with anyone else. My folks are very calm when greeting him, but is there anything in particular we can do about this?

My 5 mth mini-Schnauzer did this too & I read somewhere to not acknowledge them when you first get home, so come indoors take your coat & shoes off etc, etc then when you get to sit down they can have their hellos & pat then.

The excitemenf & attention at the door is just too much & something's gotta give 🤣🤣

Maybe when you're out visiting too, practice with your dog so he will sit beside you before your parents open the door/greet you & then a wee treat or reward if it works.

It might too just take a few more months & his bladder will be able to hold a bit more wee in. Lola dog here only occassionally has the excited pee now luckily.
Good luck 🙂

Thanks, eenymeenymineymo I'll work on the calm with treat before I ring the doorbell! Fingers crossed it might also be helped by the passing of time.

Greet outside for now to save the house floors! We had this and she outgrew it by about 6 months.

Excitement wees are normal for little pups, they don't have as much control yet. He will outgrow it in the next t few months most likely...meet in the garden for now!

Yes we had a pup that did this but outgrew it around 6 months. You don’t need to do anything particularly it just stopped as she matured

Our lab did this when he was excited when people arrived and very occasionally with us when he hadn't seen one of us all day - got less and less of a problem from around six months onwards and it's very rare now at ten months. I would march him out the garden to give him the chance to do it there as new people arrived too.

My dog used to do this when she was a puppy. They soon grow out of it.
