Repairing a leather lead

Trying to get an idea of the cost of doing it!

I have a really nice leather lead that I bought about 13 or so years ago - it’s English bridle leather, about 1/2 an inch wide, really heavy duty, brass fittings. I bought it for darling old Spuddog after he pulled so hard with a nylon lead that he made my hand bleed (rescue dog, we worked on it…!) and now that’s he’s gone, Spudpup has inherited it. But some of the stitching is starting to come undone. It just needs restitching - for someone with the right tools and skills, it will probably be ever such a easy job. But I have neither…

I’m taking it into a local independent cobblers to see if they can do it, but he was a bit dubious on the phone and I think it might be too thick for him to deal with. So who do I call next? Would a saddler take such a relatively small job on, and how much are they likely to charge? Or had anyone done a similar fox themselves successfully?

I'd try a saddler - it sounds equivalent to a bridle repair
