Dog won't take medicine

dog is on different types of medicine (8 doses in total) and she hates taking them. I've tried hiding the medicine in treats/smelly food, breaking them up, crushing them, mixing it in normal food etc, giving it to her as it is followed quickly by treats. If it's mixed in food she'll refuse to eat the food, if it's hidden in something she'll eat it then spit the tablet out. I feel like I've tried everything everyone has suggested. I have been putting the tablets at the back of her mouth and holding her mouth closed til she has to swallow which makes me feel terribly guilty (although she doesn't seem bothered when I do it otherwise I wouldn't), but that's the only way to get her to take them and even that sometimes takes multiple attempts as she uses her tongue to push the medicine back up again and will spit it up again a while later. She has been on medication/different types of tablets for a while now and it's not getting any easier. Just having a little moan I suppose and hoping someone has an idea no one else has thought of for making giving her all this medicine easier.

@househuntinginthesouth
Put the meds in the fridge for about 30 minutes. The cold will kill the chemical smell off so she won't smell it in her foods. Then use pill assist treats.
Little trick a Vet I worked with once taught me.
Don't keep them in the fridge permanently though .

I have a dog who needs 3 types of meds. I had to ask the vet to find liquid versions. Luckily this was possible but probably not for all meds. Bloody nightmare! If they only knew we were trying to help them!

Def pate. I stick my dog's tablet in a tiny ball of pate and he gobbles it down. Hasn't failed to work yet! (He nearly takes my fingers off in the process tho)

My last dog was on various tablets for most of his life... the only thing I found that was reliable was to shove it in and treat after it was swallowed, if he managed to spit it out then we went again and he only got the treat after it was definitely swallowed.

After a while he worked it out, then I added the word mouth and he’d open up on command. Like any other “trick” really.
