Hi I was wondering has anybody tried tails good. It’s a online subscription food service for your dog.
I am currently feeding my 10 year old border collie and 3 month old jack Russel Harrington’s puppy BBC and adult but wondered if this would be better for them.

I use Tails for my cooker spaniel who has a very sensitive stomach. Every other food we have tried made her unwell. You can usually get the 1st month half price if you Google a code

We had it for 9 months then reading about it on our breed-specific Facebook group, discovered we could get exactly the same ingredients from a different company for a third of the price…so from £60pcm to £22.

We tried it. Our dog seemed to love it at first but then refused it after a few days. We’ve stuck with butternut box, she wolfs down every meal now

WoodchipNightmares · 12/10/2021 03:47

It's distinctly average in quality. Slick marketing though.

www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk is a fantastic comparison website.

we used it for a while with our labrador as he reacts to wheat so had their grain free, at first he wolfed it down then we had to add wet to get him to eat it. Then he developed numerous allergies, one being chicken & they only did chicken in the grain free, so we moved him to butternut box. He absolutely wolfs his butternut down & looking back tails wasn't all that good, he had stinky farts, soft & massive poos & his coat wasn't great. Since changing to butternut his poo is much smaller & less stinky, he doesn't fart half as much & his coat is so healthy

What was this company please? We have Tails but the cost is astronomical. And going up this month…

bunnybuggs · 16/10/2021 20:04

I took advantage of the first order discount. The trays of wet food were fine - but the dry kibble was horrendous - too large for the dog and she refused to eat it.

They make a big thing of tailoring (smile) the food to your dog's breed but taske no account of the size of dog withing the breed. Not all spaniel crosses (aka cockerpoos) are the same size.

I have found a company that gives out samples (by size) of their dried food called fish4dogs (0.50p a sample) and my dog loves some of their food. They deliver for free too and do not try to sign you up for monthly deliveries.

Our pup is on Eden food and it's grain and white potato free and 2 recipes are chicken free too. They do dry, wet and semi moist foods

It was recommended to me by our local natural/raw food shop. Puppy is thriving, and vet asked me what he was fed on as his coat and condition is lovely.

MissMarpleRocks · 17/10/2021 21:38

We’ve tried a variety of foods & brands as she has pancreatitis. Has so far been ok on Tails.

icedcoffees · 18/10/2021 08:08

Tails is mostly very clever marketing - the quality is pretty poor.

tabulahrasa · 18/10/2021 10:44

It’s not great quality, very overpriced and isn’t actually at all individual... they’ve just got a few recipes and then mix those and call it individual.

You can’t do grain free and also chicken free and they’re fairly common allergies to go together.

It’s basically just an overpriced marketing gimmick.
