My dog is a 14.5 lurcher. He's started having accidents and drinking more I'm going to take him to the vet but wondered if anyone has had any success with medication for males?

I wouldn't do anything without getting him seen. The symptoms you describe sound like they could be kidney failure so he needs to be seen in his "natural" state for the vet to make a proper evaluation.

Needs a diabetes and kidney check surely. Get him to the vet before trying anything

Thanks I'm ringing this morning so hopefully I can get him in asap?

My dog had this and was diagnosed with kidney failure. Hill’s kidney care diet was recommended and has really helped.

Thank you I'll look into that.

He's had blood tests. I took a urine sample this morning. Very easy to do as he can't cock his leg now. Dh took him in as I had to go to work.
Dh told the vet I sometimes give him half a paracetamol for his arthritis. Vet said that's fine. The vet rang me today and said his urine wasn't anything to worry about and we just have to wait to see what the blood tests show?
Apparently he tried to bite them when they took blood. He was in their without dh so he'll have been scared Sad

Vet rang today. His liver is showing high calcium. He needs an abdominal scan to see what's going on with his organs.

Sorry to hear your poor dog is going through this. Sorry for you too. Flowers

We had an old male dog who became incontintent and I found these
glenndarcy.dog/ really good and a lifesaver for our carpets and furniture. I currently have a 13yo girl dog who is on medication for incontinence from the vet, which kind of works but not entirely, so she’s in their female dog nappies. But that comes with all the getting the tail through hassle - can’t be helped but I have to say the male belly bands were easier and fit better in comparison.

Fingers crossed for your old boy that the outcome is something they can deal with x

Thank you for your messages.

He hasn't had any accidents the last few days. But he does seem to wee more at night.

I actually feel worse about him than I did about close family members who were dying. Hopefully he isn't yet. That sounds awful I know. But it's because he can't tell me. Plus I've had him so long and rescued him at 16 months. He was a nightmare but I trained him.
