Hello

I wonder if you can think of some free brain games for dogs to do! The ones in the shop seem a huge rip off!! Any ideas…

Can make with Dchild - so an added bonus of keeping her entertained too!

Thanks

We cut a slit in a tennis ball and fill it with kibble so she has to roll it around. Keeps her busy for 10 minutes!

Muffin tin game: tennis balls on top of your fairy cake/muffin tin, hide treats under a few.

Put treats into kitchen or toilet roll tubes and squish the ends.

Roll an old towel with treats in and tie knots in it for dog to undo and find goodies

Old egg box with treats inside.

Scatter feeding

Hide treats in the house and get dog to find them.

Sure there is a fb group posters mention. Something like canine enrichment I think.

Fill cardboard box with toys and bits of blanket etc interspersed with handful of small treats. Close lid

Toilet roll middle with treat in the centre and folded up

Hide and seek treats - shut dog out of room and hide treats all over the place. Let dog back in to sniff them out

Make a flirt pole with an old broom handle

Hollee ball filled with bits of material and treats - dogs have to pull out the material to access the treats.

Shaggy bathroom mat used as a mat to hide treats in

empty milk carton with treats in- noisey though as dogs pushes carton around the floor to get the treats out - no lid on obviously

Hide tennis ball for dog to find build up to harder searches and smaller bits of ball.

Have three flower pots hide food under one and move pots around with dog watching (Like the magic trick) let dog sniff to find the correct pot with food under

Hide food under your hand and let dog sniff your hand, they may paw it and lick your hand keep the food covered until they back off from the hand. Then reward. This is a great game to teach for impulse control.

Cardboard boxes & plastic bottles.
I also like homemade agility & dog parlour - walls, tree trunks, old benches, bollards etc.
Paws up, walk on, weave, stand, steady, all sorts of things to do balancing on odd stuff.

parkour not parlour.

These are great - thanks, and also for the link!!

DDog does not like the rain (even holds on for a wee) but then gets bored!!!

Thank you!

Get 3-4 cups/ flower pots / ... and hide a treat under one and let your dog find the right one!
Start with 2 and slowly build it up! You can teach your dog to touch or put a paw on the right one...

Empty water bottles - remove cap, plastic collar and labels (I avoid any with anything too sticky) you can drop some of their kibble in to it too) but our pup loves chasing and retrieving them. I use two of the same type to practise give/drop with immediate reward of same type of bottle. Pup seems to love the skittering and noise a thrown bottle down the garden path makes. Just replace if it gets too battered.

We play Find It letting pup sniff handful of stinky treats, pop him in the porch, he waits whilst we hide a trail and then he loves investigating to find them. Few rounds of that really tires him out.

I made a huge snuffle mat for him from a rubber doormat and fleece lengths. Can feed a whole kibble meal that way and again, it mentally tires him out.

Made him a destruction box with old paper and cardboard packaging, empty kitchen and loo rolls, scrunched up brown paper - meal of kibble hidden in amongst it all, he loved it!
