Dog peeing in new house - help!

My lovely 5 year old, fully house trained has started peeing in the house since we have moved. This is not everyday & she does let us know when she wants to go out so its not like she has fully regressed - it's been 4 times in 2 weeks and always when we are at home. Twice have been in the same place.

The previous owners used to have a cat and a dog (and cleanliness was not top of their agenda - whole other thread) so I wondered if it could be her marking her territory as she is a marker when we are out on walks although it isn't a small 10p piece size that she does when out to mark her spot.

I did wonder if there has been too much change for her and it's an anxiety thing - the house move coincided with the DC going back to school so she doesn't spend the day in DC room while they game (they didn't really give her any attention but I think she liked being with them).

I did think about getting the carpets cleaned professionally to get rid of the old pet smells but have decided that I am going to replace them as they are not in the best of condition and would need replacing in the near future anyway.

Any thoughts or ideas on how we can resolve this? I've already put her bell back up on the door for her to ring when she wants to go out and she does use it so I don't think she is doing it because she doesn't know where to go/not being let out.

I don't agree with rubbing a dog's nose in it to make a point so won't be taking up any suggestions along that line but would be grateful for any other thoughts on how we can stop this. Thanks.

The trouble is that the smell could have got in the underlay. And professional cleaners may not use enzyme cleaner either. Good carpets sound like a plan!

Thanks @Wolfiefan - that's what I thought but I don't want to get new carpets until I've got her over this peeing in the house episode. Just not sure how to go about it because the steps we used to house train initially don't seem to be working...

I didn't realise house training was house specific when we moved with a youngish puppy.

But in this case, I think it's residual smells. The only other times our dogs have peed indoors is places like holiday homes where other dogs may have been. Then it's more marking really.

Moving does upset dogs, takes a while to calm back down.

If she's weeing in places that she can smell urine in the carpet then a new carpet should stop the problem. Although I can see why you would be hesitant just in case it doesn't.
I would take either take the carpets up and use rugs, or have them cleaned to see if she stops, before having a new carpet fitted.
