Have recently got a rescue pup and he is gorgeous but sheds way more than I anticipated. Has anyone used one of those rubber brooms with any success?

Or can anyone recommend a very powerful vacuum cleaner?

What kind of coat has he got?
If it’s a rescue and you got him in a ‘bad condition’, it can sometimes take a while of eating better food and getting better care before the coat gets healthy. My rescue was shedding pounds of fur in the beginning.
She still does 😁 I was hoping it would stop but it’s just slightly less now. I use one of those de-shedding brushes which works well for her coat type.

(If I don’t vacuum every day, my 2 dogs will create a black carpet of dog hair within 2 days. Not kidding)

Yes I have a rubber broom and it does a good job, but it can be hard work on carpeted areas.
I have a Sebo felix pet vacuum which does a great job.

2 black labs, one of whom is incredibly hairy. I vacuum probably 4-5 times a week

I have a Leifheit rubber broom which is AMAZING! You can get one on Amazon.
And I also hoover. My dog sheds like mad between August and September as he prepares for his winter coat. Then it’ll calm down until spring when the shedding starts again.
Anyway, I pretty much hoover/sweep daily with our pets. I’m so used to it now, it’s second nature.

We don't have a rubber broom (though may invest after reading this!) but we have a Shark vacuum cleaner with a special pet hair attachment for soft furnishings which works really well.

Thanks all, have ordered a rubber broom.

A window squeegee is also very good for getting the hair up from carpets.

B&M sell a small handheld silicone scrubbing brush for about £2 which is great for getting hair off clothes. They are usually on one of the hanging strips in the cleaning equipment aisle.

B&M sell the rubber broom for £5 and it is a game changer!
I have a shepherd cross who sheds constantly.
I do it every week on my carpets, it’s a hard workout but it really makes a difference.

I hoover, then brush, then sprinkle carpet freshener and hoover again and it really does make the carpets look so much better.

Looks like I have an exciting weekend of domesticity ahead of me!

I can confirm that the rubber broom is a good investment. I was both equally delighted and disgusted with the hair it removed from the carpet.

Ha, it is so satisfying the first time you use it!
