Switching puppy from raw to kibble - advice needed!

Hi all. We’re picking up our new springer puppy in a fortnight when he turns 8 weeks, and the breeder is currently feeding them raw food that he gets from a local abattoir. For lots of reasons, I really don’t want any raw meat in my house, and would like to just use kibble from the start.
Has anyone gone cold turkey (excuse the pun!) and switched to kibble 100% from the start? Could it harm the puppy in any way?
Thanks!

Ive just started feeding my puppy Rocketo food- its dehydrated raw so no worries about mess or contamination and you only need to add warm water. If you check the website allaboutdogfood.co.uk it will tell you the nutritional value of different brands and Rocketo is 95%. Kibble is usually down at 50-60% nutritional value. Since I started with Rocketo- she doesnt fart, her poo doesnt smell and its perfectly formed.

Mmm. Finding it hard to see how Rocketo is equivalent to raw feeding as it’s only 70% dehydrated meat. At an eye-watering price.

There are plenty of good quality kibbles out there, I feed Barking Heads but that’s just a personal choice, it suits my dog. Previous dogs were very fit and well on IAMS.

Just switch to new food gradually, as advised above, and don’t get sucked in by the hype.

When We got out puppy he was on a raw diet but I did the % started on 25% dried to 75%raw then 50 / 50 etc. and then after 4 weeks he was on dried food .. he was fine this way no toilet issues.

[quote Isawthathaggis]8 weeks is very young to be separating a pup from its mum? 10 weeks used to be the standard. I guess the breeder doesn’t want to lose money by feeding the pup more but I do wonder if this is the reason rescue centres are reporting increased amounts of dogs with behavioural problems?

Have a google about changing dog food, it should be done slowly over a course of weeks to avoid upsets.

Most dog food stores have a frozen raw section, it’s very sanitised and easy to use.
As GuyFawkesDay says there are some fantastic high protein dog foods available online.

There’s a fab website which explains how to source quality dog food and which ones to stay away from.

Really? I thought most breeds went at 8 weeks.

Quick update. The breeder actually had him on Purina dry, and gave us some of that when we picked him up. We started on the 75-25 mix to introduce Millie’s, but puppy has gourmet tastes and carefully picked out all the Millie’s and abandoned the Purina. Day 2, we switched to 100% Millie’s. Poops have been great so far.

@Powertothepetal

You could try fresco ‘dry’ food, it looks like kibble but it’s dehydrated raw food. I think Bella and Duke also do a ‘dry’ kibble that is raw food dehydrated.

I have looked into wolfworthy before and imo, it’s no different to any other high meat grain free dry food tbh.
I would go so far as to say that describing it as a ‘raw equivalent’ is misleading and an outright lie.

The formula seems close to identical to Akela, crave, Aatu and other high meat grain free dry foods.

Wolfworthy gets a nutritional rating of 92% on allaboutdogfoods so it isn't like other foods
