Puppy and grape

Hello all, hope you can advise. I have a 15 week old puppy who chewed on but subsequently spat out the majority of half a white grape that my 4 year old dropped at dinner time. Is there anything I need to do as he probably digested hardly any of the grape. I know this is probably a ridiculous question. He is currently chewing away on said 4 year olds train table 🤣

He’ll be fine.

A spat-out half-grape?
I wouldn't worry.

Mindymomo · 14/08/2021 19:26

I wouldn’t worry as puppy spat it out, but you are right to be concerned about grapes, they are very dangerous to puppies/dogs.

Grapes are poisonous. My dog ate & subsequently vomited up a raisin. She spent 48 hours in hospital. I’d call the vets to be sure.

Call the vet. It only takes a small amount.

I wouldn’t worry about that.

My pup ate one once - he picked it off our grapevine as we went out the front door. All the vet did was make him sick and tell me to keep an eye on him for 48 hours.

He was fine.

Grapes are only dangerous for some dogs but there is no way of telling whether yours is one of them or not. Back in the 1970s grapes in all their guises were considered perfectly OK

RoseRedRoseBlue · 14/08/2021 20:12

It will be absolutely fine. Mine have eaten all sorts over the years.

icedcoffees · 14/08/2021 20:22

Please go to the vet.

Some dogs can eat a bunch of grapes and be absolutely fine. Some can end up with kidney damage after one. It's not like chocolate where there's a "safe amount".

It's not a risk I would take with my dog.
