best hoover for golden retriever

We are hopefully bringing our GR pup home in early September. She is very pale-coloured and likely to stay that way. The hair is going to be insane and really visible everywhere, when she starts to shed.

My old Miele HEPA corded hoover is about to die, and I want a reliable new one that can deal with a GR. Not keen on Dyson for a number of reasons.

I was originally considering a robo-hoover for labour-saving reasons -but a) we have a step down into the kitchen and b) we have two different floor surfaces - lounge room is carpet and rest of downstairs is wood. Doggo won't be allowed upstairs.

I think that rules out any even vaguely reasonably-priced robo hoovers, and to be honest I'm not sure it'd cope with a GR who will in time need daily grooming.

Was considering a Henry Harry (odd name...but good reviews and I rate Henry Hoovers generally)

Very grateful for any recommendations.

We have a golden retriever pup who sheds quite abit. We brought a shark Hoover. It has a anti wrap hair roller so the hair doesnt get tangled. They are quite expensive but they are worth it. Doenst take me long to Hoover at all and it's amazing how much you can see it pulling up. Good luck with your Goldie they're such amazing dogs.

The Henry pet hoover has excellent reviews and I was minutes away from buying one until I realised that I hate my Shark Liftaway hoover because it's corded (and it had two major faults and it's only 18 months old) so I bought a Gtech Pro 2 (battery)

The Shark is fixed but still haven't gone back to using it.

I'm my twenty years of owning Labradors I can't say one hoover has been better than any other. Shark, Gtech, Dyson, Vorwerk. They all sucked up hair. The main thing that works with shedding dogs is to vacuum often, and everything.

One thing about vacuums with washable filters is that no matter how often you wash them (particularly the Shark ones) they still smell doggy. I don't really buy into the anti hair wrap thing either. A retriever doesn't have hair long enough to get wrapped round the the head roller? The 'Liftaway' isn't designed for purpose either. You can 'liftaway' and use with two hands otherwise it's just a cyclinder flailing about banging into your ankles. I actually really really hated it!

Oh they absolutely do when it’s a normal bristle brush roller. Believe me, I’ve unclogged enough of them to know.

I have a Goldie and am on a very large Goldie FB Group.
There is a lot of talk of vacuum cleaners on there and most people recommend The Shark with anti hair wrap

OP have you looked into the furminator brushes? We use this on my Goldie it really helps with the shedding. I use it once a week and she loves it. It was recommended to me by a groomer and its brilliant. I got mine off amazon and it wasnt expensive.

I hated the Henry -terrible on carpets but fine on hard floors. I’ve ended up with a cordless gtech and a corded shark lift away. I love both for different reasons. Gtech does quick daily run around but shark does thorough too the edges type vacuuming once a week.
