We use bravecto tablets (prescription only) on our 2 dogs who without them will pick up at least 10 a day in early summer where we live. Everything we've tried over the counter has had little effect.

I use Nexguard for 1 dog and Practic for the other. We live in Scotland and spend lots of time on the hills or woods.
These are both prescription from the vet. Nexguard is the better of the two, it’s oral and does worms too.
Practic will be excellent for a trip but it’s put on the skin and will wear off if your dog swims a lot.
Enjoy your trip.

We use tick collars for our dogs and they never have ticks despite walking daily in ideal locations for them! I didn’t get a collar until too late this season and my dog got 2, which proved to me that they do work x

We use Bravacto too as the skin treatments was not very very effective for us.

Bravecto works superbly well for mine. I give at the first tic of the year and get a good six months protection - much longer than it says on the packet.

The older two are tic free. My vet advised against tic treatment in the first few months, so the puppy isn’t treated and keeps getting tics. Proof it works!

^^This We've recently moved to Scotland (having perviously lived in rural area with quite a few deer), my 9 year old dog has never had a tick before we moved here. We gave him Bravecto on the advise of our vet who said there are "a lot" of ticks round here although fortunately a low incidence of Lymes disease. Problem solved and we walk on a daily basis through woodland very long grass etc and see deer all the time he's never had another tick. I think it cost about £30 but last for three month.
