Should I get a new dog after rehoming

Well and truly prepared to get flamed for this. A month ago we had to regime our 4 year old JRT as she started snapping and lunging. She started only doing this when being put into her crate at night, however, she soon started doing this at any chance she got sometimes without reason. We have a young dc so thought this was best.
However, we all miss having a dog in the house and are starting to think about getting a puppy that we can train around dc from the get go.
Is this too soon to get another dog?

How old is your dc? Personally I understand the reasons you rehomed your dog (and as an owner of a JRT I am well aware of their nature) but your logic is faulty. What makes you think getting a puppy now is going to make you end up with a dog that's easier? What happens if you get a puppy, train it etc then it starts to become snappy?

Personally I wouldn't get another dog for a good few years, until your dc is old enough to be part of the training process. And I wouldn't get another JRT, who are legendary for their difficulty to train.
