My 6 month old pup has occasionally been holding up her back leg. She has seen the vet twice for this now but has not been officially diagnosed. She has an X-ray booked in just over 2 weeks.
If it is one of the possible conditions it could become costly and I am worried I do not have enough cover on my current insurance to cover the costs.
If I changed her insurance now, would she be covered when they diagnose or would they count it from the first time she saw a vet, therefore class it as a pre existing condition?

It's preexisting, you have already seen the vet. Changing it could completely invalidate

That’s what I thought 🥴

As PP said it would be preexisting.

When I submitted my first ever claim the company asked for the vet to submit the full clinical history for BiteyDog from the date he was registered with them.

Would it still be the same if I took her to another vet?

@Hmm12121 yes they will request the history from both vets.
I wouldn’t change at this point or it will be or existing and you’ll probably end up with them refusing the claim.

It would be trying to deceive the insurance company as you still need to declare any issues you have ever taken your pet to the vet for.

On a better note mine had many visits for limps and not weight bearing and after a few weeks rest each time he was ok so fingers crossed it isn't a major problem. If it does turn out to be something big I recommend being upfront from the start with your vet about finances and that you need to minimise costs. Often there are many different paths to follow which they might recommend.
