No experience of Gower, but have a lovely time. We always take one of our duvet covers and or it over the top of theirs because it didn't matter what the rules are ddog lives the bed. Also a big cotton IKEA throw to protect the sofa.

Rhossilli Beach on the tip of The Gower is utterly fabulous and is dog friendly. When we went we were in a campervan, perfect for a doggy holiday.

If the owners say no dogs on the furniture, please stick with the rule. Otherwise owners are likely to stop letting cottages to those of us bringing dogs on holiday. If you think they (or the cleaner) won't notice, you may have a nasty surprise, sooner or later.

We take a long-spouted plastic watering can to wash off mud and sand, plus microfibre cloths for preliminary drying and ordinary towels to finish off. Daily combing, when they are not quite dry, shifts more hair into the bin and away from the cottage floors.

There are restrictions for dogs on some beaches on the Gower… this should help

I took old king size flat sheets to cover furniture, just in case Ddog sneaked onto a chair or sofa. Certainly keep your dog out of the bedrooms, especially if asked to do so.
Take old towels of course and usual bed, food etc. Plenty of poo bags and a few puppy pads in case of pooch travel sickness plus bin liners.
Water bottle and bowl for the beach and walks.

GG's at the Estuary ice cream parlour in Penclawdd sell doggy ice cream.

TroysMammy · 07/07/2021 20:32

And human ice cream of course.

Many places say they don't allow dogs on the sofa, HOWEVER if you speak to the owners (not the agents) they may be perfectly fine with it. But always, always ask.

We stayed in a cottage where they said dogs couldn't go on the furniture or in the beds, but I spoke to the owners when we arrived and they said "of course they can - that's what beds are for!" Grin

Thanks we will be taking his crate and extra sheets/duvet covers..dog doesn't go on beds but does share the sofa....so will take covers
