Pups manic Sunday

I’m quite sad that my 6 month old lab pup seems to be developing bad behaviours. I dedicate a lot of time in the day to him and his training/walks.

On Sunday morning he jumped up on his dog walker and snapped at her leg, pulled on the lead and went for her hand every time she adjusted his collar.

Then we had visitors for dinner. Omg he behaved so badly, jumping up on them, pulling at their sleeves, trying to sit on their lap.

It seems that he is obedient to me but only me and DS.

Did any of you train your dog out of these behaviours around other people yourselves or get a professional involved?

I assumed he’d be well behaved as he is usually so good at home.

Hey, no great advice to offer but didn’t want to read and not reply!! We have an 8 month border terrier and he doesn’t seem to be getting any easier! He’s still bitey especially when tired, jumps up at people and doesn’t seem to listen or care when told to stop, the worst is that since discovering he can cock his leg at 5 months he is doing it at every opportunity in the house! Saw a trainer a week ago but very slip lead focused which I’m not into but did suggest clicker training.
Feeling like a total failure at the moment! I’m sure some of it is that adolescent phase but wow it’s hard work! I feel your pain!

It sounds like normal teenage puppy behaviour to me. It takes a good 2-3 for labradors to settle into calm adult dogs.

How much sleep and quiet time is he getting as he could easily be getting very overwhelmed at that age.

Sounds more like over excited puppy behaviour than bad behaviour. He’s very young for a puppy walker. Is he over tired or too many dogs on a group walk over stimulating?
