Cheese biscuits. Flour, vegetable oil, grated cheese, mix together until you have a dough consistency, roll out cut into shapes bake until golden.
Liver cake. As far I can remember is just liver mushed up in the blender and flour until it is a cake batter consistency, pour into cake tin and bake. You can leave it a bit moist or bake it unti its a bit more solid its up to you. Warning it does stink when blending the liver. I use Primula on top as icing as my dog cant have peanut butter.

My BIL bought me two Lily's Kitchen recipe books and my dogs absolute favourite recipe has buckwheat flour, peanut butter and parsley in.

Not sure about healthy, but my daughter made our dog ice lollies yesterday. She put all his favourite treats in and poured water over them, put it all in the freezer and our dog went nuts over his ice cream (pictures attached Grin )

1/2 cup seedless watermelon
1 can coconut milk (unsweetened)
Handful of ice cubes

All blended together, and then frozen in ice trays (even better if you get fun shaped ones 🙂)

Agree with PP about simple liver cake. Our dog LOVES it, and only gets it at his training classes. It does smell when you make it, but it freezes well, so you can make a big one, and cut strips to defrost each time.

They have recently added a chemical (the name of which escapes me) to peanut butter which can be poisonous to dogs, so people should no longer use peanut butter as treats.

Xylitol is a sweetener that is added to a couple of American brands of peanut butter. Xylitol is poisonous to dogs. You would have to try very hard to find this PB in the UK.

Aldi do a good cheap no additives PB

I buy the dog safe one.

We buy MuttButter as a dog friendly peanut butter. I don’t think you find Xylitol in most peanut butter here, but the salt levels etc are higher than dog friendly alternatives

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/06/2021 16:40

We just buy the organic PB that only has peanuts as the one ingredient and nothing else in - it’s what we eat ourselves anyway. And I think still cheaper than the ‘dog’ one!

£1.15 pure peanuts

That's not true.

The vast vast majority of peanut butter in the UK is perfectly safe for dogs and doesn't contain Xylitol. Just buy 100% peanut butter - Morrison's sell it for less than £2 per jar.

Our dogs also love ice lollies, we mix peanut butter with mashed banana and raspberries add some water and freeze. The only problem we have is getting the younger dog to lick the lolly and not eat it whole.
