My dog has this for the fourth time. She was vaccinated after the first bout after we followed the vets advice not to initially..

Any suggestions as to what we can do to try and stop this happening again? She was vaccinated in October. We are managing her with staying in, a steamer, made her chicken and rice to help her feel better as she has been sick and had one diarrhoea motion. Seems totally fine in herself. Saw her best friend through the door window and ran over to say hello Sad.

I think some dogs are just more susceptible, our dog came to us as a pup with the Battersea strain and was very ill with it and he is now 11 has the vaccine every year and still gets at least 2 mild bouts a year . He also never goes to kennels and doesn’t mingle with other dogs a lot ( he’s a bit anti social ) . We just give him baby tixylix which he loves and he’s normally over it in a couple of days .

Thank you. I have been fretting as I've read it can turn into pneumonia. She hasn't seem to have been bothered we haven't been out for a walk which isn't like her. She's been sleeping by my feet for a while which hopefully will help.

My vet told me to give Baby Benylin

We have metacam, are we allowed to use that when it was given to her for a muscle strain?

It seems to be rife at the moment, and I think I remember my trainer saying the vaccination may not cover the circulating strain - bit like flu.
Really sorry she's poorly, and hope for a swift recovery.

Thank you. I thunk she's picking it up from eating grass in her favourite field.

While I was out early this morning with my dog, in our local recreation field, a woman pulled up in a van and let her dog out. It clearly had kennel cough (I could hear it thirty yards away) but she was making no effort to keep the dog away from others in the field. It wasn't even on a lead, just running around. Like the cold in humans, it can be spread by the crud that comes out so yes, catching it from eating contaminated grass is a definite possibility.
